Delete your account

You can ask us to permanently delete your LinguaBite account and all data associated
with it. You do not need the app installed to make this request.

How to request deletion

Email privacy@linguabite.com from the email address registered to your account,
with the subject line Delete my account.

Sending from the registered address is how we confirm the request is yours. If you no
longer have access to that mailbox, write to us anyway and we will verify your identity
another way before deleting anything.

We will confirm by reply once the deletion is complete. Requests are actioned within 30
days, and normally much sooner.

You can also delete your account from inside the app: Settings › Data & Privacy.
That takes effect immediately and does the same thing.

What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes your sign-in credentials and every record tied
to your account:

• Account and sign-in: your email address, display name, and any linked Google or Apple sign-in
• Learning progress: completed sentences, exercise results, mastery levels, spaced repetition schedules, bookmarks and streaks
• Study history: daily progress, session logs and study records
• Preferences: your selected languages, daily goals and settings
• Subscription records: your entitlement state and unlocked languages

This is permanent and cannot be undone. There is no recovery period and no archived
copy — once deleted, your progress cannot be restored, even if you sign up again with
the same email address.

Export first if you want a copy. In the app, Settings › Data & Privacy › Export My
Data produces a copy of everything associated with your account. Do this before
requesting deletion, because afterwards it is gone.

What is not deleted

• Data stored only on your device. Deleting your account removes what is held on our servers. Anything cached on your phone stays there until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
• Your subscription itself. Subscriptions are held by Apple or Google, not by us, and deleting your account does not cancel one. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play first, or you will continue to be billed. See our Support page.
• Anonymous analytics. Aggregate usage data that is not linked to your identity is not affected, because it cannot be traced back to your account. Individual event data is deleted after 14 months.
• Crash reports. Diagnostic data containing no personal content is retained for 90 days, then deleted automatically.
• Records we are required to keep. Where law obliges us to retain something — a transaction record for tax purposes, for example — we keep only that, for only as long as required.
